Giving Life Our Way

{{cree_title}}

Birth has always been a life force in our communities. When it's gone, balance is broken and we all feel it.

{{cree_subheader}}

Midwife Lesley Paulette shares the benefits her profession brings to the sovereignty and vitality of our people. Giving birth is a critical part of life's cycle, and its absence - resulting from colonization - has left a a gaping hole. Indigenous midwives across the country are rebuilding this disconnect by helping mothers to reclaim an experience that's always been rightfully theirs.

To see more of Lesley, watch the episode Birthing On Her Own Terms in season 3 of Working It Out Together on APTN.
