Traditional Pregnancy Rules

Expecting mother Shillene reflects on the unique magic of pregnant woman power! And with it comes certain traditional rules...

In Longhouse traditions, a pregnant woman is in a league all her own. She's carrying extremely precious cargo that connects her to the world in new ways, and such an honour has its protocols. No necklaces, no standing in doorways, can’t cut your hair, can’t sit on the ground... Sound strange and difficult? Maybe, but each rule's got its reason, and having an awesome midwife really helps.
