Up Early with the Akawe Canoe Club

These ladies are out on the water before sunrise, and pushing themselves for the sake of their health and the environment.

Here's a group of amazingly strong women who are so deeply connected to the water. I really wanted to document their teamwork so that other communities can be inspired too. It was a (super duper) early morning shoot, but the Akawe Canoe Club was rowing with total focus. What they're doing as a team is healing for themselves and for our waterways. They contribute to our communities by being a powerful example of healing through nature.
